I tried to start a love train chain, but sadly there just wasn’t enough fuel to push it along.

Fortunately it’s Valentines Day tomorrow, but how did Valentines Day come about?

Valentines Day is a very old tradition thought to have originated from a Roman festival called Lupercalia in February, officially the start of their springtime.

The celebrations of the traditional festival was that boys would draw names of girls from a box and become boyfriend and girlfriend and sometimes they would get married.

There is also another belief that Valentines Day originated from. Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers therefore he outlawed marriage for young men.

The priest St Valentine felt this was unfair, therefor he married couples in secret.

When he was found out he was thrown in jail and sentenced to death, whilst in prison he fell in love with the emperors daughter. On the 14th February when he was taken to be killed he sent her a love letter signed “from your Valentine”.

Love does not have to be subject to one person, not everyone has a valentine/a partner to share these moments with. Love can be shown by consideration of another human, sharing thoughts and emotions with people is a way of saying love is out there, it’s not tangible but its a feeling in the air, you can pick up the feeling from niceness of others’. Are these niceatise (not sure if that’s a word) what’s missing? Has Simple acknowledgement of people been so ignored that we have become so unaware of chances around us; for love and friendships. Have we become too judgemental? Have assumptions overtaken our moral politeness? And has this become a vicious circle? And if so, where do we begin…again?

You can’t force anyone to be nice to you, to be kind and considerate or to simply smile at you, you just can’t! But YOU can make a start, you smile first, say “Hi”, be kind, considerate, even if that person doesn’t reciprocate well at least you’ve done your bit, you have made a start, whether it be for yourself a for society.

The truth is WE ALL NEED LOVE, no one is less deserving from another, LOVE can fix many problems or issues. Your Smile may be the lift that someone needs and benefits from, your smile may possibly be what triggers a shift in someone else, imagine if that was YOU, when YOU needed it most.

Happy Valentines to ALL

Sending out virtual LOVE and HUGS❤️Screen Shot 2018-02-13 at 09.34.20
